VAGOS OPEN AIR 2015 – BEST EDITION SO FAR

Vagos Open Air 2015

VAGOS OPEN AIR 2015 is finished and all the hard work as paid off.

20 bands performing for a 3 day period, each with it’s own requirements was never going to be easy, but all the crew likes a challenge and we’ve been working on this for 6 months.

I’m glad to say that all was worth it and I believe this to have been the best and most efficient VAGOS OPEN AIR edition so far.

One of the most important changes was on the choice for the sound and lighting company, AUDIOGLOBO, which arranged everything properly and kept a 12 guys crew to assist with all the necessary work to make this year a complete success.

With an entirely new ligthing plot from former years and a technical rider established to adjust the event, it all worked out better than expected and I was amazed on the fact of not needing to put out fires as much as I was used to.

All the bands were impressive on their posture and sympathy and we hope all our work helped them on providing the necessary requirements to put out a hell of a show.

I, personally, had many surprises on this edition. Bands I never have heard of, bands I’ve never seen live and I can tell you it looked like Christmas everyday.

First day started out with the stagehands and backline crew arranging the stage and taking their last rest before this 3 day race.

Three different drumkits and a bunch load of cabinets and amps were sorted and conveniently placed to provide easy access to any piece of equipment being used by every band.

Everyday a full test was made with the help of the portuguese opening acts to make sure we had any system bug sorted out and to establish a smooth working flow throughout the day.

From there on, the backstage got two bands at a time setting up their gear and backline for all the shows till the end of each day.

Non stop on stage and backstage with all work evenly distributed by a team of 4 backline techs from ROADIES DC, 5 stagehands and 8 warriors from the sound and lighting company AUDIOGLOBO helped all the bands: SCAR FOR LIFE, MOONSHADE, VILDHJARTA, HEAVEN SHALL BURN, AMORPHIS and WITHIN TEMPTATION, provide 6 great shows for the festival audience.

All on schedule, all of us went to rest after this.

It was an amazing first day and set the path and disposition for the rest of the festival.

Day 2, went along the same lines as the first day. Everyone was well rested and ready to take on anything the festival had to throw at us.

Backline was setup all over. Monitor world changed the Within Temptation‘s Digico SD8 with the Digidesign SC48 for Black Label Society, stageplots and last minute info was distributes and we were once again ready to make this one a memorable day.

With one special guest today, everything went without a glitch and the marathon went on with WAKO, MUTANT SQUAD, DESTRUCTION, TRIPTYKON, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, VENOM and FILII NIGRANTIUM INFERNALIUM.

Another day as passed without much to add and without too much problems to solve. Destruction had some problems with their pedal boards, which were handled by one of the backline guys prior to their setup. Glad all was fixed, because they gave a hell of a show.

Only one more day to go and this one was the day we were most at ease with.

Bring on the last seven bands to close this festival on a great way. The first ones on stage were MIDNIGHT PRIEST, followed by NE OBLIVISCARIS, ORPHANED LAND, ALESTORM, OVERKILL, BLOODBATH and IRONSWORD.

After all bands were done, it was time to take a running picture with all the entire crew just wanting to bring everything down and wait for the next year.

We have one year to make the grass grow up again.
